Question 1 Answer - Our Opinion

Antique is defined as an object having special value because of its age, especially a piece of furniture or hand crafted item specially valued for its artistry, beauty, or period of origin. It is also defined as something belonging to former times. This is a broad definition that really doesn't assign a specific age.

During 1930 the United States government defined antiques as being at least 100 years old. This decision was necessary because antiques were duty free. So, the rule was established and has been widely accepted.

Some folks use the rule of thumb of two generations make an antique with each generation being 40 year. Since European countries have more items of age, antiques are much older.

We emphasize the fun in finding something unique or appealing to our eye. We find items that are no doubt antique by most defintions and others that are questionable as antiques but we just like. Our philosophy is the collection doesn't necessarily have to be of great value to everyone; if the collector enjoys it, that is good enough.
