Question 9 Answer - Our Opinion

Cast iron items made in the early 1900s can be very valuable today. But how can we really distinguish what is old, a reproduction, or even a repaired item? Obviously, finding a piece with the original paint is the goal for avid collectors. Most modern paints fluoresce in the presence of black light which can often reveal repairs or reproductions. And as always, if a piece is truly old, there will usually be signed of wear on the bottom.
